This summer, Bibles for America has had many unique opportunities to give away the New Testament Recovery Version across the United States. BfA volunteers have been active from coast to coast, taking advantage of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the US and various World Cup events to give away Bibles. We’d like to share some specific distribution stories from our volunteers we think you’ll enjoy. May God’s Word continue to run and bless this country!

philadelphia
In Philadelphia, we have sensed a hunger for hearing the words of Jehovah among the 1.57 million people living here. So far this year, we have distributed over 9,000 copies of the New Testament Recovery Version. During the World Cup, we attended 11 of the 39 days of the FIFA Fan Fest, giving away 88-160 Bibles each time. Now not only locals, but people from many different countries have the interpreted Word of God.
Then on the 4th of July, 15 volunteers, supported by the prayers of many others, distributed over 360 Bibles just yards away from Independence Hall. This is where the Declaration of Independence was signed 250 years ago and where the Liberty Bell still resides, on which is inscribed part of Leviticus 25:10: “Proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants.” We were full of joy to be distributing the Bible, which contains the truth that can set people free today. Finally, we also testify that we found favor in the sight of the police officers who were patrolling the area. One of them even gladly received a Bible, and we were able to speak with her for over 10 minutes.
Seattle
A few of us went from Olympia to Seattle to distribute Bibles during the World Cup. We had over 1,000 copies of the New Testament Recovery Version. We weren’t sure how we were going to distribute all of them, but halfway through the first week we were close to running out! We were able to order more and those also went very quickly.
We realized that there is definitely a hunger and thirst for the Word of God in Seattle. We distributed Bibles to people of different backgrounds and ages, and some even prayed to receive the Lord. Many gladly received New Testaments and copies of Spiritual Nourishment, and some of them want to meet for further fellowship. We also had many Christians come up to us to pray for us, hug us, and thank us for what we were doing.
Washington, d.c.
We have been going out to share the good news of the gospel and distribute copies of the New Testament Recovery Version throughout the DC area. We have developed mobile distribution kits and carts that allow us to quickly set up in high foot-traffic areas. These include metro stations and key locations across the National Mall, as well as special America 250 events. During four distributions, we gave away 978 Bibles. On another occasion, young people gave away 735 Bibles in a single hour at the National Mall.
One volunteer testified: “The Lord strengthened and energized a group of us to take the initiative to first pray and then plan and take action. Our first outing really opened our eyes to see that the typical American people are open to the gospel and God’s Word. Twenty-six people showed up to pass out the New Testament Recovery Version and gospel tracts. We distributed over 150 Bibles in one hour that day!”
los angeles
During the 2026 FIFA World Cup from June 11 to July 19, we went out into the communities of Los Angeles and distributed over 2,000 copies of the New Testament Recovery Version in English and Spanish, along with many gospel tracts. The overall reception was extremely positive.
We really felt that the Lord answered many prayers by bringing so many seeking ones to us, people who are soft in heart, hungry, and open to receive the Word of God. We could see that many were searching for something deeper, something or someone that could truly satisfy their hunger and quench their thirst. It was particularly encouraging seeing volunteers of different ages and from different backgrounds come with a burning spirit to preach the gospel and share Christ with people. Many got the opportunity to share something concerning the mystery and purpose of human life and God’s desire for man.
